HMFP travels to Sweden to continue collaboration

Our International Collaborations Director, Robert Freitas, MHA, and Medical Director, Philip Anderson, MD, are currently in the Region Skåne, Sweden assisting our partners and colleagues at Helsingborg Hospital, in an initiative to improve emergency care throughout the Region.During phase 1 of the project, our faculty conducted a needs assessment that analyzed Helsingborg’s emergency department operations, educational programs for doctors and nurses, as well as the EMS system.During this latest visit, our team is working with our Swedish colleagues to develop and implement a multi-year strategic plan for emergency care optimization and improvement in Region Skåne. We are looking forward to continuing our collaboration with Region Skåne in 2013 and beyond.Philip Anderson, MD, expressed his optimism for the project: “Our Swedish colleagues are very ambitious and have set their sights on wanting to become the best and most cost efficient emergency care system in Scandinavia. This is an exciting opportunity for us to help them achieve their goals by leveraging the expertise and experience gained through operating our emergency departments and helping others to build world-class educational programs and operational models for emergency care.”
